LAS VEGAS - Freshman Sarah Rae Takekawa exploded with a game-winning goal in overtime, to send the Saint Mary's women's soccer team to a 2-1 sudden victory win over Long Beach State Sunday afternoon at the UNLV Classic held in Las Vegas.

Both the Gaels and 49ers held a scoring advantage throughout the game. SMC's Jennifer Barbera recorded her first goal of the year at the 8:40 mark from 15-yards out, to put the Gaels up 1-0 before halftime.

Long Beach State's Kristin Travis retaliated back in the second half, connecting on an assist from teammate Deanna Bender to even the score at 1-1. No scores would be executed thereafter, forcing the game into overtime.

Ten minutes into the extra period, Takekawa scored the game-winner off a header, courtesy of teammate Shauna Rech from the left side.

With the win, Saint Mary's claimed the UNLV Classic title and improved its record to 2-0 on the season, while Long Beach State dropped to 0-1-1.
